FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

My
tour operates year-round, originating in Williams, Arizona and
not
Las Vegas, Nevada. Vegas is approximately 4 hrs. drive to Williams.
I always recommend the best time to travel with me is 'off season'.
I do not recommend the tour for infants and I'm not
responsible for the weather. I DO NOT recommend the train to the
canyon or the 'Skywalk'.
What's the weather going to be like?
We are at a mountain climate here at 7000'. The weather can change
quite quickly. Bring light jacket/sweater, etc. cool mornings, warm
days in summer so sunscreen is a must as most of our days here are
sunny and bright! and I'm not responsible
for the weather!
How much walking is involved?
Walking is a must. We have to walk to see the grand canyon, eat lunch,
use the restroom, go shopping, etc. With the elevation here and the
dry climate walking can be a challenge but I accommodate your needs if you are physically challenged.
We do at times hike on unpaved trail. We MUST walk to see the
Grand Canyon.
Do you pick-up in other locations other than Williams, Arizona?
My tour leaves from Williams and I do pick-up folks in Tusayan which
is a small town just outside the National Park. Folks staying in the
Park are required to meet me at the McDonald's just outside the
National Park. Folks who stay in Las Vegas, Sedona, or
Flagstaff meet me at
the visitors center in Williams, Arizona at appropriate time. From
Vegas is approximately four hours; Sedona is 1.5 hours; Flagstaff is
30 min. I am easy to find if meeting me!
How do we pay for the tour and do you require a deposit?
I accept cash, travelers check or personal check (any bank in the US )
on day of tour. I do not require a deposit but require you to call me
upon arrival at your place of lodging to confirm your arrival and for
pick/up time. 'No shows' are a major problem so your cooperation is
most appreciative. Current price for the 2013/14 season is $100 per
person (Special rate for groups of six or more) and now the most reasonably priced private tour of the Grand Canyon!
How long is the tour? What do we see? Is lunch included?
My tour begins in Williams around 9:00 am (Local time), returning
to Williams around 4pm. Summer season (May-Oct.) Pick-up and
ending times vary. NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WEATHER and delays.
We wish to leave early and return early and beat the delays within and
outside the Park. We see as much as possible on the South Rim
according to how busy the Park is. I know the 'shortcuts', parking, secluded areas, etc. We return to Williams around 4pm. Lunch is at the Canyon Cafe and is
not
included. The locals
eat there. Its the best! It's around $8-$10 per person.
What do I bring on the tour? Is this a bus? Is it air-conditioned?
How many people are in the group?
Bring bottled water (a must!). If you don't have bottled water I will
supply it for you. Bring your camera and wear a comfortable walking
shoe. No sandals! Tripping hazards are serious on the rim of the
canyon. Watch your step before your view! Bring a light jacket and
sunscreen. Cell phone, pagers, game boys, walkman's, etc. are NOT
recommended on my tour. I use a comfortable 12 passenger van
with air conditioning and groups vary to no more than 10/12 per group.
What about children?
Children are most welcome and a responsibility of the parents. I try
to educate the child as much as possible of this grand place and hope
they take home a memory they will never forget! This National Park is
their future!
